Welcome

In 2008, K B Hancock reached another high point of his life-long career as a painter by being elected a full member of La Société Nationale des Beaux Arts who have been hosting the Paris Salon since 1890. He is the only British member and joins an elite list of painters which includes Puvis de Chavannes; Ernest Meissonier; Auguste Rodin; Eugene Boudin; Burne-Jones; John Singer-Sargent; Alfred Sisley; James McNeill Whistler and Matisse, to name but a few.

He is a modest man who likes to say 'I was given a little talent and during my life I have stretched it a mile wide'. His international collectors would disagree. He was given a great deal of talent and learnt the mechanics of paintings with a 'maître' in Paris as a boy. He is a master of his own style of impressionism, of marine paintings, and in fact of anything to wish he choses to turn his hand (or brush!).

'My wife, Elisabeth, and I often sit in my studio at the end of the day looking at my paintings. She is my greatest supporter and my strongest critic. As some people would reminisce about photographs of their holidays, we sit and look at my paintings, saying 'do you remember the day we went there and had a wonderful lunch of mussels, or steak, or that excellent bottle of wine.' We hope you will enjoy my paintings in the same way.' KBH
